Trying to improve...
Saturday, I was at the Worcester Fencing Club attending a second directing seminar with Jon Moss. The man is great.

And in 11 days, I'll be taking the director's written test at the Pomme de Terre on Saturday. For those of you who think it's not that big an issue, I have one question: Have you ever looked at the Referee Study Guide that the questions on the test are drawn from? Keeping in mind that you need at least a 90% on the test...

And if I'm really lucky, I'll get my practical on the same weekend. I may be a mediocre fencer, but I still love the sport. So why not get certified as a director and work it that way? At least I'll get front row for the bouts.

...... The man is great for the first couple years you know him. After that, he's more and more of an asshole.

One of the most awkward experience I've had with him was when I was score keeping, and he was being all buddy-buddy with me *trashing* the ref. The ref? My boyfriend-at-the-time.

The first time I took the ref test was at a chinese restaurant with the Prise de Fer crowd at 11pm. I failed horribly. They made me take it, under the theory that I should get the failing miserably out of the way when I couldn't really be blamed for it, and get the fear/anxiety out of the way. I passed the second time.

Well, the man is a high-school physics teacher...

Actually, you're not the only one I've heard that opinion from.

I was going to fail it miserably the first time, too, but I went home instead to study.

He's been much more of an asshole to Scott than he has been to me. But then there was the USACFCs, and after all of that insanity... I just don't have many good feelings toward him.

Also, he continues to hire Paul Harris.

To be fair, at USACFCs 2007 in Indiana, when I walked up to Jon in the middle of the floor and told him that if Paul ever touched me ever again, I would remove his (Paul's) testicles and feed them to him, Jon's response was basically "Okay" ... and I think he said something to Paul, because he hasn't gotten near me since. But paying a guy who has been known to be COMPLETELY inappropriate to women ALL THE FUCKING TIME.... not cool.

OK, that is very true. I don't think I know this Harris guy, but that's veryb much not cool.
